OPEN SESSIONS for learning more about iAdvise

Help for Instructors and Advisors to use iAdvise most effectively

We host multiple opportunities for users to learn more about iAdvise. All locations are online with Zoom. (If another platform, e.g., WebEx, is required please email iadvise [at] uic.edu.)

Open Hours are great for dropping in to get a quick question answered or ask about a particular functional element; we recommend scheduling a two-hour block for new staff to get an overview of the system (as a supplement to departmental training).

Open Hours are two hours per week [or three during peak times] during the semester, and one hour per week over the summer).

2023-2024

Deeper Dives are opportunities for faculty and staff users to come together to have conversations about how to best use iAdvise. They are not designed as lectures or trainings, but rather as places for users to get their questions answered from other users and OAD staff. They are designed as interactive sessions with reviews and quick overviews of aspects of the system where the iAdvise team gets quite a few questions.

This year’s topics:

  • What’s the Workflow When There’s No Workflow? (Thursday, September 28, 3-4pm)
    • Faculty-raised alerts
    • Referrals to offices
    • Live Q & A
  • Communicating through iAdvise (Thursday, October 19, 3-4pm)
    • Be an iAdvise Influencer!

  • Reviewing Roles and Relationships

We encourage users’ curiosity to leverage iAdvise to improve student success. Bring your questions, even if they are quick, or if you feel you should already know the answers, to us. We’re happy to help!

If there isn’t a convenient time or method listed, additional opportunities are available by appointment. Email iadvise [at] uic.edu to arrange opportunities. Get in touch through email or Teams! No previously scheduled time needed. If we’re available, we’ll help right away! (And if we’re not, we’ll try to find a convenient time ASAP.)

Remember, if you need help from our iAdvise Helpdesk for technical issues, please email iadvisehelp [at] uic.edu.
